Sunday School

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Sunday School is very beneficial for young believers in Christ. In their classes, children are invited to dive into Bible stories to learn about God's love for them and his plan for their salvation through Christ.

Immanuel welcomes all children ages three-year-olds through 8th grade to Sunday School. It meets following the Sunday Divine Service from 10:15 to 11:15 year-round.  At this same time, Bible Studies for adults and high-school age youth are also held.

On the first Sunday of each month, the students participate in a joint opening with the high school youth and adults. It is led by Pastor Porath. Baptismal birthdays are also recognized during this time. All other weeks, they first meet together for opening and then divide into age/grade appropriate classrooms.
The children enjoy making music to glorify God with their singing and playing bells. They provide special music during the Divine Service throughout the year, as well as, being actively involved in the Christmas Eve Worship Service.

Offerings are collected weekly and donated to special projects selected by the Board of Education. Currently, these funds are being sent to the Siberian Lutheran Mission Society. The students also participate in service projects throughout the year, including such activities as making blankets that are given to Children’s Hospital in Omaha.
